Join the BLCT and Lauren Parmelee for an informational introduction to owls followed by a nocturnal stroll at Mount Hope Farm to look and listen for them in their natural habitat. During the fall and winter, several owl species nest in Bristol and can be heard calling to each other as they set up their territories and bond with their mates. Owls we may encounter include the Screech, Great Horned or Barred Owl. We never know what we'll hear or see, but participants will learn a lot and have a great nighttime walk.
The event, which runs from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., starts at the Mount Hope Farm barn, 250 Metacom Ave., Bristol, RI. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy walking shoes and bring a strong flashlight. Parking is in the main parking lot behind the barn, which is accessed via the main driveway. Light refreshments will be served. The fee is $15 per person with a maximum of $25 for families, payable at the door, and free for BLCT members. All proceeds go to support the BLCT's mission in preserving open space forever. The rain/snow date is Friday, December 5.
