The Massasoit Suite

Queen Bed and Twin Bed, Second Floor

The Massasoit Suite has two separate sleeping areas with an ensuite bathroom and shower. Please note that the suite is accessed by a narrow, spiral staircase which may be difficult for children or anyone with mobility issues. There are no common areas in South Pasture House, but guests are welcome to enjoy coffee or snacks in the small kitchen and foyer located in the center portion of the building. The Massasoit Suite has its own thermostat and a window-mounted air conditioner during the summer months.

The suite is named for Massasoit Sachem or Ousamequin (c. 1581 – 1661), who was the leader of the Wampanoag confederacy, and the father of Metacom (King Philip) whose tribe used the land of Mount Hope as a summer encampment. Massasoit formed an alliance with the colonists and it was through his assistance that the Plymouth Colony avoided almost certain starvation during the early years.
