Fall foliage and pumpkin patches aren’t the only way to celebrate autumn.

Mount Hope Farm, the 127-acre National Historic Site in Bristol RI, will host its annual FarmFest Celebration on Saturday, October 28 from 10 am to 2 pm.  The Farm is also hosting its last outdoors Farmers Market of the season from 9 am to 1 pm that Saturday. Starting in November the Farmers Market will move indoors for the winter.

The free FarmFest festival is held at the Farm, in the historic buildings and grounds at 250 Metacom Avenue Bristol.

Activities include tours, Native American storytellers, militia re-enactments, viewing of  farm animals, hayrides and much more.

Halloween costumes encouraged!

In addition to the Farmers Market, tours include the 1745 Governor Bradford House, the Civil War-era Barn, and Cove Cabin.  A myriad of kid-friendly activities are planned, including games and scavenger hunts, plus free face painting, balloon animals and crafts.

There will be 4H activities and Bluegrass music, as well as discussions with Mount Hope Farm’s beekeeper, Ed Karle and a marine life exhibit organized by Roger Williams University.

Fresh cooked food including hamburgers and cold drinks will be available for purchase.
